The Management Plan has been formally submitted by the Committee to DSE for Ministerial approval.
THE BOXTHORN HAS GONE.
An excavator was hired to rip out the boxthorn stumps. The boxthorn was finally removed on the 28th May leaving a couple of piles of dead boxthorn at the top level next to the car park, and a slope, cleared ready for planting.
WE HAVE A MICROBAT!
Our first microbat, probably a Gould's Wattled Bat has moved into one of the Bat tubes which were installed in October 2008. The bat is pictured at the top of the tube.
CITY OF BOROONDARA.
City of Boroondara delivered a load of mulch on 12 May and this has been spread in the picnic area.

The 2008 'reveg' area has been weeded, and the picnic area kept 'tidy'. Some more kangaroo apples have been planted on the bank between the picnic area and the boxthorn.
The trad is proving very persistent in the 2009 area. Plantings in this area are doing well, with a considerable amount of 'regen' and several patches of Einardia nutans (ruby saltbush) appearing.
Work has continued on the 2010 reveg area. About half the area has been slashed and sprayed. The main weed is Tradescantia. The treatment method of slashing and then spraying with glyphosate within 30 minutes appears to be working well.

The slashing produces an immediate visual, reducing the Trad from about 40cms high to 10cms.
A couple of sections of old post and rail fence have appeared from under the Trad.
